Wicked Wiggler Their "If You Wanna Play" 45 is pretty impossible to top. But this 10" has got two Fatal-Organ-Smasher with "No Way At All" and "Bitchy Cow" are mandatory for any french fries lover. "Goin On" points to the darker side and is sure a better 60s Garage mayhem than any band offered in the 80s Revival. I'm confident that this is real blood on the organ. But you get to the big heart of real artist Piero in the other tracks, dark and sometimes sonic-chicken-shingalingin. Favorite track: Bitchy Cow.

about

DEGENERATION OVERDRIVE#3 (CAN) JUNE 2006 Being a teenage punk rocker growing up in the province of Quebec in my day entailed having to endure copious amounts of Bérurier Noir and co. blaring outta friend's shitty ghetto blasters on a daily basis, so I must confess that after all these years, it's always extremely f**king refreshing to uncover a French group that sounds absolutely nothing like any of those bands! Not a beat box in sight here, as the Mighty Go-Go Players bring forth a grimy batch of primal 60's sounding psychedelic garage that's as high on energy as it is attitude- excellent stuff! It's probably a good thing my old friends and I weren't listening to stuff like this growing up though, or we probably woulda spent our entire adolescence getting high on acid! (HC)

MAXIMUM ROCK-N-ROLL#276 (USA) APRIL2006 Promo Sheet from venerable ALIN SNATCH! says" Think drugged-out SEXAREENOS, art-damaged MURDER CITY DEVILS based pn FATALS fuzz going ITR on a detahcult sex-war" Thanks, that´s half my work done for me! Not only that, but it´s a pretty apt description although I´d throw in the MINDS and MANGAZOIDES as additional points of reference. Good to the last drop! (DD)

LOW CUT (DENMARK) FEB 2006: The French and Italian guys have a distinct way of churning out their 60s inspired surf/beat/punk with a bent lo-fi trash-rock. I don’t know why. The Go-Go Players sound and approach bring to mind bands like The Uninvited and The Hermits, both from Italy and the Players’ countrymen the Squares, from France. On this 10”, their first long player, the quartet have added a creepy Farfisa organ to the grandeur, which they build the songs around, along with some pretty lively drumming, such as on the opening track No Way At All and the following Goin’ On. Well, Well is a moody Boots-like ballad, but they speed things up again on side 2 and prove that the freaky shit-tag they come with, was earned the hard way on It Could Be Higher and Not Too Bad. You Got To Crawl On My Soul is another slow Beguiled-like monster of a song and just like the Fatals, whom the Players share two members with, this happy marriage of fuzz, reverb and desperately trying to have some fucked up fun, is made in heaven if you like your R’n’R with one foot in the garbage can and the other one in the grave. (Morten)

Dig It !
