ox-fanzine.de #173 APR 2024 Schon die KIDNAPPERS habe ich geliebt, wie nur eine Mutter ihr Kind lieben kann. Warum also sollte es einen Grund geben, KÜKEN nicht im gleichen Maße meine Lust, Leidenschaft und Ersparnisse zukommen zu lassen, Kreditwürdigkeit wird ohnehin überschätzt. Zumal dieses Mal auch Bilder von Personen die Außenhülle jener Schallplatte namens „II“ zieren, die eigentlich bereits 2017 von Drunken Sailor Records in einer Klinik für Geburtshilfe in Heilbronn erstaufgeführt wurden. Die Gynäkologen und Hebammen schwärmen noch heute von dieser Veranstaltung. Ohne viel Aufhebens und medizinisches Fachpersonal hat sich nun Alien Snatch! der Wiederveröffentlichung angenommen, einfach so, für eine KÜKEN-Platte braucht es keine Gründe – nur eine gut sortierte Schimmelpunk-Plattensammlung der Jahre 1976 bis 1979, vorwiegend aus Amerika, dem Land der feuchten Tellerwäscher und unerfüllten Träume. Punks, die in dieser Zeit lebten und musikalisch aktiv waren, schrubbten die Gitarren wie eine Raststätten-Toilette, brauchten oft nur ein halbes Schlagzeug und kleideten sich aus Altkleider- Containern. Mutmaßliche „Sänger“ konnten zwar oft nicht singen, dafür aber ziemlich schnell sprechen, was den besonderen Reiz ihrer ungehobelten Krawallmucke ausmachte. KÜKEN können nicht nur all das, sondern noch viel mehr, ihre Platte kannst du auch zwischen Mittagessen und dem Termin beim Arbeitsamt hören.(DK)

Killer garage-rock with a salting of punk. All songs are good, but the album keeps getting better as it warms up. Found it on the Drunken Sailor Record label, which is turning out to be a great resource for the dirtier side of all things great in punk and rock. Lute FP

This is one of those albums where I have a different favourite track every week, and it's been like that since the release that is now a year ago. What a massive album, starting out with fist pumping chants and gradually getting more electro but always with that punk grit attitude. Top 3 of 2023. Gijs van Soest
